The Monastery of Panagia Vlaherna

The monastery of Panagia Vlaherna is a Byzantine monastery that was built before the 12th century, one of the most beautiful locations in Parga. The monastery of Vlacherna is located in the Valtos Beach area of Parga, on a hill. The bell tower of the 18th century, which has a height of 15 meters, dominates in monastery and is the only one that survives. The icon of Panagia Vlacherna, allegedly came from Cappadocia(on the picture shown in the year 986) and stored today in the church museum of Parga.
